  • 3D Secure is a free and automatic online security service that has been created to give customers an extra level of security and help guard your AvantCard Credit Card against unauthorised use online. 3D Secure works by using a password that you create as your unique online identifier. You then use your 3D Secure Password to validate online transactions with participating online retailers. This helps to protect you from unauthorised use when spending online.

  • To close your account your account balance needs to be paid in full (including any possible unposted or pending transaction’s). Once the final payment has cleared on your account and the account has a zero balance you can call the Customer Loyalty Dept on 0818 409 513 – Open 9 - 5 on business days, or write to us at: Customer Loyalty Dept, AvantCard, Dublin Rd, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim requesting to close the account. Please also be aware of the 30 euro Government Stamp Duty liable upon closure of the account and also to allow for any possible Residual Retail Interest.

    Your Payment Reference - 16 digit account number beginning with 245 found on your statement (no spaces, excluding '000' if displayed at the start of the account number) - Please note: this is different to your card number.   • You can use your card in most countries around the world for both shopping and withdrawing cash.  As your account is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for unusual activity, it is useful for us to know when you are going to be abroad so we know to expect some international transactions.
    By letting us know in advance that you're going away, we can add a travel notification to your account. This helps to reduce any possible inconvenience you might experience when you use your card abroad.
    It's easy to notify us - you can add a travel notification through your AvantCard online account or by giving us a call on 0818 409 511 or 00 353 71 9594040 if you are already abroad. Please note that we can only accept notification of your travel plans up to 1 week in advance of your departure.
    Other useful Services for when you are abroad are:
    Emergency card replacement and emergency cash—if your credit card is lost or stolen and you require a replacement card or emergency cash while on holiday, don’t worry as we’re here to help. We can send you a replacement card to most countries throughout the world and often within 48 hours. Additionally we can arrange for you to collect cash (up to 95% of your available credit limit) from a local emergency service location.
    Travel Assistance Services - We have arranged for International SOS Assistance Limited to provide you with a variety of special emergency services to assist you when travelling outside your country of residence, for trips lasting no longer than 90 days. Some of the services incur a charge, which you would be responsible for paying if you were to use those services. Please note this is not insurance and is not a substitute for travel insurance.

    Our overseas number can be found at the back of your card if you need to contact us for any assistance in using your card. Our Customer Service Team are available to help 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm on Saturday, excluding Bank Holidays on +353 71 95 94040.
    It is also useful to make a note of this number or add it to your phone contacts before you travel in the event you lose your card or require emergency assistance. This team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached on the same number +353 71 95 94040.

  • No, you can't change your PIN through Online Card Services. You can only change your PIN at an ATM. Visa and MasterCard holders can change their PIN and unlock their PIN using ATMs at the following high street banks in Ireland: Ulster Bank, AIB, NIB and Bank Of Ireland.

  • You can pay your credit card account at An Post offices nationwide. Simply bring your credit card or Payment slip together with your cash, VISA or MasterCard debit card payment to any An Post office. Please allow up to 3 business days before your due date for it to reach your account. All payments made over the counter at the Post Office incurs a processing fee of €0.97. No interest is charged on the processing fee.
